Welcome to Dakota Pride
Welcome! Dakota Pride Chinchillas is a small, ECBC-registered ranch in Aberdeen, South Dakota, raising happy, healthy chinchillas for loving pet homes. This isn’t a big operation — it’s a herd we know by name, by pedigree, and by personality.
Our breeding program focuses on color and clarity — rich, clean coats in mosaic, ebony, beige, white, and classic sterling grey — paired with the kind of careful, line-by-line record keeping that lets us tell you exactly who your new chin is and where it came from.
The Colors We Breed
Color is the heart of this ranch. Here are the varieties we work with:
Mosaic
White coats splashed and marbled with patches of color — no two mosaics are ever alike.
Ebony
Deep, dark, and dramatic — ebony color wraps the whole body, belly included, in rich charcoal to near-black.
Beige
A warm, soft tan with a white belly and gentle freckling on the ears — sweet as it looks.
White
Snowy whites and pink whites with dark eyes — striking, bright, and hard to miss in the cage row.
Sterling Grey
The classic chinchilla: blue-grey over a crisp white belly. The foundation color every other variety is measured against.
★ Home of an Award-Winning Herd Sire
Our extra dark ebony sire Batman (DPC-5) took FIRST PLACE at the Empress Chinchilla Colorado Branch Show — and his quality shows in every kit he sires here at Dakota Pride.
